Brittany's Update

Okay so now it’s my turn to write. While Heather has been busy being engaged and in love, I’ve been busy myself. This year, I’ve been working for Residence Halls Association. I have the best job on campus! Basically, I help freshmen plan really big parties. I supervise a council of Heritage residents in planning the programs for the area. We have put on dances, carnivals, and more. Right now, we’re planning the Mr. Heritage contest. The nine freshmen on my council are pretty much the coolest first-year students at BYU. Here is a pictu
re of us with our advisor, Kevin.

Besides work, I’ve been preparing for………..MEXICO!! After the first study abroad program I applied for (Guadalajara) got cancelled, I got accepted into the Merida program! I will be there from April 29th to June 16th. While there, I will live with a Mexican host family, take language classes, and do a little bit of traveling to see the Mayan sites. Merida is 25 minutes from the beach and only 4 hours away from Cancun. So, a trip to Cancun either before or after the program is in the works. Needless to say, I’m super excited and counting down the days.

As for Heather’s wedding, she asked me to be her Maid of Honor, so I’ve been busy planning her bachelorette party, bridal shower, and helping wherever I can. She’s got her dress, I’ve got my dress, and her wedding is going to be awesome!

Next Fall/Winter, I will be living in the Colony with Stephanie and Jackie. Heather will be living in _______________ with Roy…the place is still to be decided. Heather has promised to take a few moments out of her new married life to spend time with us lowly single people. Stay tuned to find out if that happens. J

As for more new things…I joined what my dad calls the “multiple decades club” a few weeks ago when I turned 20 years old. Yep. I’m old. Heather showed up at my work with some balloons for me. It was a very odd assortment of “over the hill,” “yep! I’m a boy,” pirate-themed, and some birthday balloons.

Heather mentioned our new roommates in one of her last posts, but I’ll tell you a little more about them. First there’s Marybeth:

Marybeth graduated from BYU-I and works as a Registered Nurse at a pediatric clinic. She’s from Utah and her dad was my cousin’s bishop in the MTC! She is super nice, super fun, and just all around super. She has an awesome laugh and sense of humor.

Next is Heather…we have two of those now!

Heather spent most of her growing-up years in Oregon but moved to Utah during high school. She and Marybeth have been friends for years. She is a senior at BYU in the School of Family Life program. She spent the six months before Winter semester doing an internship in China. She is hilariously outgoing, beautifully confident, and just an all-around awesome person.

So, things have been good with roommates and we’ve had a few awesome and much-needed girls’ nights. The most recent was last Monday. Jackie wasn’t there because she was hanging out with Brent (as usual) but the other five of us were.

Okay so backtracking a little…I’ll talk about the last part of Christmas break. I went to Heather’s and spent like the last 6 days of break with her in good ole’ Missouri. Surprisingly, I don’t have any pictures. But, I’ll give a quick run-down anyway. The first day, we went shopping on the way back from the airport. There’s this awesome mall in Chesterfield, MO. The next day, we got manicures and I met some of Heather’s friends. Other things we did include a New Year’s party with her friends, a few movies (including Harry Potter), more shopping, sardines in Walmart and just all-around fun! The first time we went to the mall, Heather bought some jeans and the cashier didn’t take off the security thing. You know, the kind that is filled with ink in case you try to take it off. So, we went back a few days later to get that taken off. Break quickly ended and here we are now. Back in school and eager for April when Heather gets married and I go to Mexico.

Well that's it for now!

He's a "good guy"

So, this may all be out of order in time sequence, but I wanted to get this posted. There's still many more exciting adventures of Bralph and I, but here's what's newest going on with me. If you don't have a facebook, you might not know, but really, who doesn't have a facebook nowadays?

Anywho, I'M ENGAGED!

His name is Roy Hemmert and he's a graphic design major here at BYU. We met at the beginning of last Fall semester (2010) and he proposed January 18th at the Provo Temple by a bench we always sit on when we go to the temple. It was a total surprise and I cried a lot, but have never been happier! We are getting married on April 22nd in the SLC temple!

No, I am not replacing Brittany. Her and I will still be horrible people together and prank and hang out and still be "meant for each other." I'll just have a ring on my finger, be living with a man, and not be a virgin anymore! haha...ok, sorry, that was probably too much information. I just had to throw that in there in honor of what Stephanie and Jackie always say when they talk about how things will be like after I'm married.
Anyways.... Yeah, that's what's new with me in my love life. Also, I would never recommend planning a wedding in one semester while going to school. It's so hard not to blow of school stuff to do wedding stuff, or slack on going to classes cause you just want to hang out with your fiance.

So once I'm married off, it's Brittany's turn! :)

VEGASSSSSSS

So, last semester (Fall of 2010), a few roommates and I started getting cabin fever of Provo and planned a trip to Las Vegas for a few days. It was super fun! Expensive, but totally worth it.
We (Steff, Britt, Jack, and I) took Stephanie's car and got a hotel room at the Sahara Hotel. We had to get some random guy to pretend he was Brittany's boyfriend and sign us into our room cause we aren't 21 yet. And that's only the BEGINNING of all the stories!
First night we just kinda wandered around the hotel and casino, laughing at the guy we saw in a BYU t-shirt sitting at one of the blackjack tables, and taking funny pictures. Then we found this gift shop thing across the street that was huge, and took pictures of all the crappy stuff we found in there. For example:

The next day...ok all the days have mixed together now in what we did so I'll just say, "and then" and you can all understand I mean "sometime within these 4 days."
We slept in, went to eat at a busy denny's, and got henna tattoos.
Worst waste of $25 ever. Stupid henna...lasted not even a day... grr

Anyways, we then toured all the hotels and casinos,

looked for a place to eat, and walked the Strip once night fell. We ended up eating at the Hard Rock Cafe (of course!), and got bought a round of drinks by the drunk guys at the booth next to us. Woo hoo for virgin drinks and fake tattoos!

Don't ask what I'm doing...I don't know. I was getting over being sick that week, so let's just blame it on that...

Like I said, we then walked the Strip. DON'T LOOK DOWN or take what the snappers are giving you. That's what I learned on the trip. But there were cool performers in costumes along the strip you could get pictures with. ("Is it a guy in a suit??" "No, its a real spongebob")

And finally, we must mention Matt. The odd Indian guy in the hot tub who read our palms, told our future, offered financial benefits to us, and advice about school and studying abroad to Brittany and I. I even got his name and email and where he was staying in the hotel! He insisted..don't judge.
Well, that's all I have time for now, so enjoy!

~Heather

Wow it's been too long...

Not like we have a ton of followers anyways, but it has been a super long time since we posted ANYthing. But for those of you who will actually notice something new and interesting happening on this blog, thanks for staying tuned in! Or just happening to look at this blog in rememberance of the awesomeness it used to be.

Man, where to start. I think I'll post in seperate sections on some of the new happenings since...well...summer I think was when Brittany posted the last thing.
So, NEW ROOMMATES!

Well, the ones worth mentioning. This is Jackie (left) and Stephanie, both crazy cool people. 'Nuff said.
This is Mindy. This picture kinda pretty much shows her true self. Let's just say, she was not a happy camper living with Brittany, Jackie, Stephanie and I. Apparently we can be messy people at times (but in all fairness, "messy" to Mindy was like clean to anyone else...)
'Nuff said.

This is one of the Christmas pictures we took in our ugly sweaters. Cause we're cool. The other girl I didn't mention is Amy, who is now serving a mission in St. George, UT. She was pretty cool, very clean roommate, very healthy and athletic. Yup.

Now we have two new roommates (Amy went on her mission, and we scared away Mindy...or stressed her away... either way, she's away now). Their names are Mary Beth and Heather (...yes. Another Heather. yes, it can be confusing at times. and yes, I know, I can never escape all the Heather's, seeing as I have 2 sister in laws, and my VT companion is Heather as well.)

Anyways, these girls are fun and I'll miss them. Why? Well, just tune in to our next post and find out!
